Right next to Magpie and Zippy's Ordered: Seafood Gumbo Pontchartrain Andouille Encrusted Fresh Fish Sides: sweet potato mash, broccoli, dirty rice All very good and flavorful! Service very friendly, attentive and informational. They give a lottt of food, so come hungry! & the Bread is DELICIOUS- very buttery and soft . Great for casual dating, family outing, lighting is dark enough for a solo date. Lots of seating! Great for big groups- call ahead to reserve seating for large parties.

Parrain's Seafood I'm thoroughly impressed. I went with the andouille encrusted fish, which was simply outstanding. It was flavorful, perfectly cooked, and the crust added a wonderful texture and taste. My side was the creamed spinach that was out of this world, rich, creamy, and delightful. I visited around 4 pm, which was a stroke of luck because I heard this place can get quite busy. Finding a spot was easy at that time, but do note, the popularity speaks volumes about the quality here. The service was exceptional, our server was not only attentive but also gave me the excellent recommendation for the spinach a side I might have overlooked otherwise. For anyone visiting Baton Rouge, Parrain's Seafood is THE place you want to go. Trust me, you won't regret it.

I enjoyed some of the most delicious fresh seafood I've ever had in a while! Might seem simple to some, but the coleslaw was so perfect, Boudin balls were delicious & are served with a horseradish hollandaise sauce. The half & half fried catfish & shrimp seafood platter stole the show. A mountain of food on one plate. It came with delicious dirty rice, golden hush puppies, & crispy fries. The service was absolutely fantastic--our waitress was super friendly and on top of everything. The restaurant was bustling with people, which really tells a lot about how great the food is. The ambiance really captures that warm Louisiana hospitality vibe; it felt so welcoming and homely. I can't wait to go back!

Parrain's is definitely a go-to spot for seafood in Baton Rouge. The food was great, and the service was just as good. Our server was friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. The oysters were the highlight, full of flavor. We got the chargrilled, they were some of the best I've had. Everything else we ordered was delicious too, with good portions and great seasoning. If you're in the area and looking for good seafood, Parrain's is definitely worth a visit!

I love visiting Parrain's whenever I am in Baton Rouge. I went with a party of 11 and we waited about an hour to be seated. Once we were seated, our server greeted us quickly and started taking our orders. The food did not take long to come. The oysters were amazing. The grilled chicken is nice for a low calorie option. It was busy, and that is expected on a Saturday night. It was a great time and the atmosphere is perfect for family.

It's unassuming but so homey and welcoming once you step inside. The staff is accommodating and sweet and they welcome you like old friends. My co-workers brought me here to try Louisiana classics. And the food did not disappoint. They had me try boudin balls which are superb. My order, the Atchafalaya, was so damn good! It's breaded fish with this delicious Hollandise-adjacent sauce and it's topped with crawfish. I chose the sweet potato mash as a side and it felt like a hug in my stomach. When I return to Baton Rouge, I'm going to come back and order everything on the menu. These people really know how to cook seafood.

College kids behind the bar. They're doing their job and having fun. Best grilled oysters I've ever had. They were not dried out. Also, why are blue crab claws not more of a thing across the country?? They were delicious. Perfectly fried. Not heavy at all.

Great solo lunch this afternoon. Had the salmon with a stuffed potato. It came with spinach also. Nice soundtrack piped through and the place was decorated for Christmas. This is one of my favorite places so of course you should go. Specializes in seafood, in case you didn't know. Chandler was a fantastic server!

First time to Parrain's. It was recommended by a local. Expectations were met. If you're looking for Cajun cooking this is a great spot. The place looks lik a welcoming down home restaurant. The staff was very courteous and friendly. Now the food!!! The food was great. Had the "Whole Shebang Platter" Portion was big enough for two, or like in my case a really hungry Man. Had everything I was looking for. The coleslaw was a tasty surprise as it was a new mixture to me. But reader.. A MUST order is the Blackjack Oysters!! They are chargrilled with Monterey Jack and jalapeños. These are a must have. You won't be disappointed.

Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, recommended this place to us. Be prepared to wait, although our wait was very short because we agreed to sit anywhere. We ended up in the bar which was lively. By the way, kids are allowed to sit in the bar, I assume because food is served there. Everyone orders the Char-Grilled Oysters and you should, too. We went with the "Traditional" ones and they were awesome. I honestly could have eaten a hundred of them. In fact, if I ever return, I'm ordering drinks and oysters and that's it. For our entrees, we went with The Delacroix (grilled Mahi, sauteed shrimp, cream sauce) and the Pontchartrain (fish filet, crabmeat, cream sauce). My poor Mahi was cooked to death and was dry as a bone. I obviously ordered wrong and should have gone with something deep, deep-fried. The other entree, the Pontchartrain, was absolutely delicious. I'm usually lucky with good to great service almost everywhere but our server here could not have been less interested. I saw great looking cocktails everywhere and our gal said the cocktail menu was AWOL but they had Jack Daniels and the like. Well, that's not a big help. She also never asked if I wanted a second beer and she never bothered asking if we wanted dessert. She wasn't completely awful but I hope this wasn't her best effort. The place is very casual and has a lot of energy. I have to knock them for the insanely overcooked fish and the who cares service. I would definitely return for about 100 of those char-grilled oysters.
